Resolutions Reviewed.

In the beginning of the year, I made some New Year resolutions. Now its time to do a review of them. =) Here's the list:

1. Strike lottery for a trip to Europe and China. Bought 4D and TOTO a few times, but no luck yet. Who says winning lottery will be easy? heh. And the only overseas place I could afford and been to this year was Bangkok. That's why I need resolution #8 lah.

2. Complete the two unfinished entries of blog from 2005. What two entries? Forget it. So often I jot down my thoughts while I travel to work and home. And when I get home, they all seem so mundane or silly to be blogged down.

3. Spend more time with family. Father and Mother I Love You. I do. But I still did not spend enough time with them. Mainly due to fulfilling resolution #5 and #6. Anyway, at least we finally have a family photo hanging on our wall. Probably this'll be one of my resolutions for next year as well.

4. Treat my girlfriend better. I am not sure whether I did that. She'll have to be my judge. I admit the number of surprises I pulled out of the bag was less than before. I think either I am running outta ideas or I am getting less romantic. I will try harder. Be more understanding, caring and generous with my love for you. This one is going over next year as well. =p

5. Inject more activities in life. In the end, I did not have much of a plan to do this. I had more friends than before and spent time with them. Chilling out, beach volley at Sentosa, cycling at ECP, and KTV sessions counted or not? Hopefully, I will form closer bond with my friends and make a difference in their lives. Happy Birthday Hwee Yee =)

6. Learn this, learn that, appreciate this, appreciate that. Check. I passed a certification exam and started my part-time masters. This had been a major investment of my time and $. Many ask me why? I guess the reasons are obvious - future prospects and self-satisfaction. Maybe next year I can pass a couple more certifications and perform better in my studies. It'll be great to find time to pick an instrument (thinking cello or trumpet, I just can't do drums, too much of coordination problem for me), or pick up blading.

7. Splash my money on books, read read read. Check too. I bought some books, finished some, still have three books yet to complete. I read more blogs, mainly technical blogs, even got a RSS reader to organise my readings. Before I start to buy more books, I need to finish the last three first. But I just couldn't resist buying more new books, especially when there was 20% discount often.

8. Get Rich. Many people don't believe me when I said I am poor. Loans and bills, they come every month. Providing for the family is no easy task. My dad did an incredible job, now it is my turn to do so. I am barely making ends meet monthly and occasionally finding excess for some luxury items. At the same time trying to save for marriage, for future. This is an ongoing task, slowly but surely I am reaching my goals. Hopefully resolution #1 will come true soon! Meantime, I can only rely on hard work.

Shall make some resolutions for the New Year soon. Immediate goal at the moment is to get more sleep! With the flu bug around, and lack of sleep, I am feeling the effects of fatigue again liao. Time to orh orh now!

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

I Will Be Back With More Time.

It is more than two years since I last blogged! Not that nothing interesting happened. In fact, plenty happened! Shifted house, shifted office, boys grew, had Hand Foot Mouth Disease (ouch!)! Just to name a few. There were gains and losses. Life's ups and downs. Of me, and those around me. I haven't been doing much deep thinking and thus less writing. Not enough time? That is probably an excuse. But it is true that I have not slept well for quite awhile. It is hard to explain the stress from work, where nothing goes smooth, and every step forward is a hurdle. Technology also had made it simple and addictive for us to mindlessly share. Share our thoughts in bits and pieces. Forming persona of ourselves to acquaintances and friends I hardly meet anymore. I remember experimenting with Tumbler, finding ways to post once, publish everywhere. It didn't quite work out. Even when technology made it is so easy, I have not been diligently editing and uploading photos of my darlin

The Last 24 Hours, Twenty-Thirteen.

If you were wondering... Yes I did it for the fifth time on the eve of New Year. Just two of us, made the journey from Marina Bay Financial Centre to Kampung Glam, via the newest Downtown line. You can see my photos here . Still looking for people to join us end of this year. :)
