Patching WLM and Disabling Useless XP2 Services.

I finally succumbed to my curiosity in all software new and free, and installed the Windows Live Messenger (WLM). Previously, Kife had recommended it on his blog . My initial thoughts were, "features of the long-forgotten-ICQ repackaged into a m$ product". We have all gotten used to MSN as our main IM client, so it is nice that they have improved it. In fact, I think they have done a good job improving the UI - I probably don't need to install any third-party MSN skin for a while. =) After you've installed WLM, remember to install the WLM patch, A-Patch , to remove the irritating advertisements, and customize the features in WLM. On the topic of removing unwanted features, XP SP2 contains many useless services which you may want to disable. TechTree.com provides a guide to the services you can safely disable. Free up your machine's memory, improve the performance. You can do so with the following steps: 1. Launch the "Run" dialog using "Windows_Lo

Bye Bye World Cup, Bye Bye Zizou.

Of cuz we should be politically correct, and never condone violence. Especially, when it was an act from someone who is an idol and role model for millions around the world. However, we should all forgive him. Such an ' idiocratic headbutt ' does require an ' odious motivation '. The ' Battling Ram of France ' had put Emile Heskey to shame! How many of us can say that we will not throw a punch, give a kick, let our body fluid fly, or even react in any way, given such a ' motivation ' and under such intense stress to perform? The legend is only human . Players get away with foul words (unless they are words to the man in black - or rather yellow, and sometimes red, heh), but not with foul actions. And I guess action speaks louder than words (and also more obvious on replays). A wireless mic for every player on the field next time? Maybe. Thank you Zizou for his courage to express his feelings, and entertainment he provided in his final hurrah. Why don&#

Learning from Their Great Mistakes.

It happens all the time. We hear ourselves, or our colleagues complain about our/their project managers/leads, or whosoever they work with. " He/she ask me change this change that when he/she did not state clearly in the first place ..." " He/she thinks that his methodology is always the best ..." " Why am I always assigned with all these no-form work ?" " I don't think they value my contribution at all ..." I think the bottomline for most of these unhappiness have to do with EGO . Our EGO , and our leads' EGO . No matter you are lead or not, " winning everyone's hearts " is most important thing about working in a team. And once you have gained that respect, others enjoy working for/with you. On the other hand, I think it is important to remain neutral, dispel any negative feelings and not get too emotional about work. Negative feelings snowball, with each complain, each grumble. Eventually, the simplest instruction, slight

Revenue for Transport Companies Increase at 5-year High.

I read the following article on Today with dismay, " Bus, MRT fares likely to go up ". *** timing so zun. Right after the gener.... oh whatever . " ... raise approved by the PTC was the maximum allowed under its formula that takes into account average wage increases as well as productivity gains of the public transport companies. " Wah, transport companies so in sync with the latest news hor , " Wage increase at 5-year high ". ' "I would think that the public transport operators would want to apply for the increase every year," said Mr Ong. ' Not only Mr Ong thinks so, I also think so leh . The raise not substantial mah , ten cents, twenty cents, nevermind hor ? At most increase every year lor . I also wanna open a transport company leh , forever increasing revenue one . At most I increase fares only by five cents per year lah . I wonder the whether fantastic formula takes into account of times when the economy does not do so well or not.

Les Bleus Sent Samba Boys Home Packing.

England's exit was part of the script. The sending off and everything, that was probably in it too (if you are going off, better to do it with a bang right?) But France's victory over the World Champion caught me by surprise. It was unbelievable that they went through the group stage, and now possibility of entering the Final? Will it be a All-Blues Final, Les Bleus vs Azzurri? Slowly, but surely, they are making their way back to the pinnacle of world soocer. Oops, hope I did not say anything too soon. =p
