Gown Bags.

NUS 2005 gown bag, simple and elegant, NICE! NTU 2005 gown bag, many metal parts hanging here and there, highly configurable, designed for the typical engineer, er.... Been whining quite abit in the previous post, and since the bag is free, I shall not say much. =P Btw, did you notice the new NTU logo layout? The word "Technological" in blue, which cannot be seen clearly... I suspect it so that that word can be dropped conveniently anytime without anyone noticing it when the school name change to Nanyang University. hah, I still prefer the blue and grey logo, much more pro-looking lorh. =P

Don't Play Play.

I am not upset, I just want to rant about it again (so pardon me if you complained to you before). Young parents out there, paying that few hundred bucks to send your kids to tuition is not equivalent to improve in grades, without you doing your part as well. I received a call this morning about the tuition centre administration receiving feedbacks from parents about me punishing their kids. This is how the story goes... The number of students in my English class had dropped to seven students (down by about four students) in the recent months . And according to the statistics, this is the most number of drop in number of students among all classes for the centre. Based on that, the administration decided to call up the parents to investigate the reasons for stopping the tuition lessons for their kids (their profit had dropped mah, so must find out why). Apparently, parents said they paid for their kids to have tuition, not punishment (cannot touch their lil' darlings okay..). So wh

The Name of The Rose.

Umberto Eco: The Name of the Rose. You are a mystery novel dealing with theology, especially with catholic vs liberal issues. You search wisdom and knowledge endlessly, feeling that learning is essential in life. Which literature classic are you? brought to you by Quizilla Although, my favourite among all possible books would be 1984 .

Dreaming About You.

I usually leave my handphone on during the night (just in case if anyone want to contact me urgently, eg. a friend in need of help etc). But I think I will be leaving my phone off from now on. Why? In the wee hours this morning, I received three continuous sms . I forced myself outta bed to read the message, thinking it must be something very important. I surprised to read that they were messages from " Dreamchat ", telling me that " someone is dreaming of me ". Oh great! What a good reason to wake me up! It also asked me to call this 1900 number to listen to the message. There was even a member id at the end... So someone still wide awake in the middle of the night decided to use this wonderful service to let me know he/she is dreaming of me leh. wah seh. I immediately deleted the messages and went back to sleep. Knowing I will just have a few more hours of my six hours daily sleep time left. How did this " Dreamchat " thingy got my handphone number? Is

New Gimmick.

The main objective of advertisement is to grab the viewers' attention. Yesterday I saw one on the train that certainly grabbed my attention. When the train stopped at Orchard MRT, a bunch of guys wearing white tee with a big blue alphabet on each of their backs (like those on the yellowpages advertisement) boarded the train. At first I thought they probably just got off work from some advertisement gimmick in Orchard. And must be from HP as well, cuz I saw a " H " and " P " side by side. Then I saw them standing in a row and the alphabets on their backs made up a word " HYPE ", as you can see in the picture below (eh ... can't quite see the ' E '), I realised the actual place of their 'act' was the train cabin itself. It made me pay attention to the small print url below the collarline of their tee " http://www.hypegallery.com ". Their gimmick worked very well, cuz when I got home I checked out their website. It turns ou

Celery Juice.

Last week, I did a very boliao thing. I took pictures of the different stages in extracting the celery juice. The celery juice is supposed to help in reducing my bp level, and it has become part of my lifestyle so far. Every morning, before breakfast, I will take out four stalks of celery and an apple to extract their juice, I'll cut them into cubes, And finally drop them into the juice extractor. And here is the final product, half a cuppa celery juice, which I'll drink before eating anything.

ISO0511.

Throughout the week, I did have lil' things I wanted to blog about. But when I get on the PC, I just felt too lazy and tired to do so. The things suddenly seemed to mundane to be blogged. I have nothing to rant about, no opinions so strong to let anyone else know... Is that what working life does to people? Am I slowly transforming into a boring engineer? What about the other things in life? What other things? You mean sitting in front of the PC and passively watching those animes I downloaded? Oh did I tell you I stare at the laptop for approximately 8 1/2 hours everyday at work? Btw, this is where yours truly spend his time blogging and surfin the cyberland at home (pictures of the 8 1/2 hours everyday at the office coming soon after I've decorated my desk, no time for that yet lah). As you can see, its a good place for suntanning during the day too... Maybe I should pick up some sports. Thats why I bought two badminton rackets just now ( two for $21.90 only lah, one for my

150/95.

150/95 . After three weeks of waking up at six every morning to extract celery juice , the result remains the same. Looks like efforts don't always pay off. Could have been higher? I need more sleep. hah ... this is disappointing...

Random Pictures.

I realised that I have not blogged for a week. During the weekdays, I just want to sleep after I get back home. Doing anything else other than maybe watching anime or reading blogs/checking mails, will be too draining for me. I am coming to understand why people who work seldom blog, unless if your job is really exciting or you get to meet or sorta funny people everyday whom you want to tell your friends about. Anyway it was quite an eventful week. And I took a breather from work during the mid-week when I attended an induction course. Got to know quite a few nice people from other departments. Its nice to see some familiar faces on the bus every morning after the course. Below are some random pictures I took during the week... The first is a plate of garlic prawn pasta from Coffee Club at Raffles Square (I think thats what you call that place, the entrance of Raffles MRT). Constance recommended it to us during the KL Gang outing. It was really delicious, the prawns were very tender -

The Musical Baton.

It would be so much nicer if the baton comes along with the collection of music files. Anyway, here's mine, without any files of course, The Musical Baton The Musical Baton (kindly passed on to me by marycherry ). Total Volume of Music files on my computer: 16.5 GB (17,782,842,711 bytes) on my "Audio" partition. Probably add up to 18 GB +/- if I include the files on my notebook, CD-Roms and other partitions. Champions-of-copyrights, please don't frown at my large collection of mp3s (others have more!), I did my part for the recording artistes by purchasing about 100 cds at an average of $22 many years ago (mostly imported cds leh, very expensive hor). The Last CD I bought was: Stan Getz's finest hour which I bought from the Tower Records at Suntec for $19.99 in November 2001 (back then jazz mp3s still not widely available mah.. heh, thank goodness for having jamie cullum and michael buble mp3s around these days). Song playing right now: counting crows accidentall

Saturday Afternoon Session Again.

Just got back home by cab not long ago. It was another friendly driver. He rounded down the $21.75 fare to $21, and told me to take my time, not to drop my handphone or leave anything behind. Its the third time I took cab this week, ouch. Sigh, I guess I don't really have much choice, perhaps on one occasion I was both tired and lazy - no excuse. Went down for Elders session this afternoon. It had been almost a year since I last went down. I am glad I was there this afternoon. Some of the uncles and aunties still remember me. And they asked me why I have not visited them for so long. I had a long conversation with an auntie in teochew. I have always enjoyed talking to her, cuz they are usually two-way conversations (which is a good thing), and it feels very qin1 qie4 to converse in teochew (its like talking to granny...). One of the uncle also showed us around the new garden where they planted many fruit trees and crops, which incidently can mostly be used as ingredients of curry!

Wonderful First Day of Work.

I won't exactly call it a wonderful start... Considering I was caught in a terrible jam (from upper thomson, all the way to queensway) early in the morning, and feeling urgent due to the cuppa celery juice and milo I drank. Yeah, so I was late on the first day of work, even tho' I woke up at six, and left house at six forty-five. So much for the GREAT START! *roars* Workplace was quite pleasant. Why? There's great supply of beverages in the pantry, they even have frozen meals! Yes, free frozen meals so that we won't be hungry when we stay back to work late. hah hah. According to big big boss, its not to be taken as dinner before we leave work. The office is a "model office" in the organization, so they have adopted the "open concept". ha ha. And my desk is very strategically located but it is cluttered with three terminals (don't ask me why so many...) The moment I was really happy was when I saw this metal name tag with my name engraved on i
