The Last Hurrah.

We trotted, in a sea of red, our way to, probably and hopefully for real this time, the final National match at the Grand Old Lady . The atmosphere, in the stadium and outside after the win, was ecstatic. I remember the last time I went for a National match at Kallang was way back in the Malaysia Cup days, Singapore vs Johor . Lim Tong Hai, Fandi Ahmad, Malek Awab, David Lee, V Sundramoorthy, Abbas Saad, Alister Edward, Steven Tan , just to name a few familiar players. Today everyone lived up to that spirit once again with the trademark Kallang Roar and Kallang Wave . Even the Thai supporters joined in the wave! That's the charm of the beautiful game , easing recent political tension between the two countries, for a moment . The first leg of Asean Cup 2007 Finals , Singapore vs Thailand , was certainly full of incidents. The referee from our traditional soccer rival country was promptly hurled with jeers when he was introduced. Thankfully he proved to be less biased as we expecte

Failure to Launch.

Have you seen the movie “ Failure to Launch ”? It was screened last year. I just watched it. If you have not watched it, I think you should. Let me tell you why... The title of the show seems to suggest its some sci-fi flick, probably involving some rocket launch that gone bad. Apollo-13 sorta thing? No! Of cuz not... I am recommending it cuz its a nice show and partially due to the fact that I am a sucker for good romance comedy on any day. Well as explained in the show, "failure to launch" is a term used to describe grown men who still live with their parents tho' they should have moved out, get married, set up their families or something. I suppose its western culture. Over here, these men are very filial sons! Anyway, this show has a simple plot. Yes, good romance comedy should have simple plot. Lady hired to date guy so that he would move out. Guy fell in love at first sight. Perfect match. Lady fell in love for real. Big-mouth loser friends found out. Jackass guy wi

Keeping Up History with Modern Times.

Can't quite remember the last time I went to the history museum. Probably almost ten years ago, during school days. Back then national museum means history kept in glass display cabinets. I vaguely remember peering into these cabinets, imagining how they played a part in our history. I visited the national museum again today with KC. I think they did a damm wonderful job in keeping up history with modern times. There were three galleries on exhibition. The Maria Theresia exhibition, the History Gallery and the Living Gallery. The Swedish Design Innovation exhibition was also on for free. We paid 7.50 each for entry to all three @ student rate! Yes don't forget your student cards for tickets at half price. We may be old (oops I mean I am old but KC is still really young at heart), but we are still students lorh . However, we should have just bought entry to two. You will know why in a while... The Maria Theresa exhibition is about artifacts related to this Habsburg Austria Queen

Caught Mooching.

Beware! Don't get caught smooching! Oops I mean mooching. Hmmm... should it even be considered as a criminal act, I agree with the opinion in this short article ... "As with the first case, it's still not clear how exactly authorities proved he was WiFi piggybacking. In a country with no shortage of draconian rules, the Singapore government might want to take a page from Arnold Schwarzenegger, and pass laws aimed at getting people to change their default hotspot password -- lest their prisons be overrun by teenagers who forgot to disable WiFi network auto discovery." I try to secure my router with whatever means available outta the box. It's not difficult at all. But not everyone is technically savvy. A new business opportunity? Hmmm... We should secure network lah , or else your neighbour may kena becuz of your negligence or generousity lorh . Sigh sigh.

Dealing Conflicts with Humour.

If only Singaporeans have better sense of humour when dealing with unruly behaviour. Not every incident have to resolve with the police mah. Two interesting examples in dealing with people who tap your wireless bandwidth and inconsiderate driving ethics :

Wet Wet Wet.

I complained not only once , but twice . Feel like reiterating my point with another example: On a rainy day... Workplace --> Bus-stop (take 195) >> Dry Bus-stop --> Alexandra Hospital bus-stop >> Dry AH bus-stop --> Alexandra Village bus-stop (cross bridge) >> Dry AV bus-stop --> NUS Clementi Road bus-stop (take 33) >> Dry NUS Clementi Road bus-stop --> NUS Engineering Faculty >> Dry NUS Engineering Faculty --> Bouna Vista MRT >> Dry Bouna Vista MRT --> Yishun MRT >> Dry Yishun MRT --> Yishun Interchange >> Dry Yishun Interchange --> Home bus-stop (take 804) >> Dry Home bus-stop --> Home >> WET!!!

Cheap Thrills.

The article title reads, "Lonely heart's 'cheap thrills. NTU student stole MSN IDs; chatted, threatened blackmail." Putting the ethics of this "lonely soul" aside at the moment, I would like to comment that the journalist should be more responsible in what he write so as not to mislead the readers. After read through the whole thing, I can't find anything that suggest the incident has anything to do with NTU nor the fact that the offender is a NTU student. In fact, it may actually give some people the impression that NTU students are less ethical. Furthermore, the writer provided more information on the offender by stating that he is a final-year accountancy undergraduate. Wow, what useful info huh? If the offender stays in say Bukit Batok (just an example lah), why don't the title reads, "A Bukit Batok student stole MSN IDs; chatted, threatened blackmail." Anyway back to this guy, it really takes a cheap loser to go for such " cheap

The Birthday Present.

No flowers, no diamonds, no expensive gift this year for my girlfriend on her birthday. Cuz she already have all those before. So I need to do something extra special to give her the surprise. Also becuz I am broke. =P This is the 3rd month in the anniversary-christmas-birthday-valentine-combo . I planned to make this clay model of a character from one of her favourite anime. So last month I bought a packet of DAS modeling clay from Art Friend . But only started making the model last week. =p Afterall, it wasn't that difficult to model a lump of clay. Wahahaha . Update: Added this picture of the clay used, cuz a friend of mine (you-know-who-you-are) wants to make some lovely clay ornaments for his girlfriend as V-Day gifts)! Anyway, below is a pictures of the model. The front before painting, The back, notice the tail? ;Op After painting the model, The painted model with the screenshot from the character in anime. I used it as a reference for modeling. And finally, my dear with th

If Your Life Was A Movie, What Would the Soundtrack Be?

Read about this from the Mr Brown's version . His has eighteen tracks. But I am doing the Trix's version where he got the idea from. Hers has fifteen tracks. Here's how it works: 1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc) 2. Put it on shuffle. 3. Press play. 4. For every question, type the song that's playing. 5. When you go to a new question, press the next button. 6. Don't lie Opening Credits: Pretty Fly (For White Guy) - Offspring (I ain't white, but a great punk number to kick off life!) Waking Up: Everything You Want - Vertical Horizon (Beginning of the day is full of hope and things to achieve!) First Day At School: Beautiful Ones - Suede (Many cute girls in school last time lorh. Wah , had a few crushes. lol.) Falling In Love: Smack My Bitch Up - Prodigy ( Woooah ... I am not into those funny weirdo stuffs k. Maybe its some hidden character thingy...) Breaking Up: Allstar - Smash Mouth (More like seeing stars. Breakup is painful.) Pro

Resolutions 2007.

My resolutions for 2007 in no particular order: 1. To understand women better. Why do they constantly change their mind and consider reasons like "because I want to" or "because I don't want to" as valid? Where are the logical reasonings that lead to decisions? I try to believe it is their nature given rights to do so, and try to behave and react properly. However, deep inside I am pissed, which makes me sound like a petty loser. So I'd want to really understand why they behave this way. 2. To get further certifications. With lack of experience and opportunities, the only way I can further improve myself professionally is to get certified. By doing so, I can get more solid foundations and learn technologies which I do not have chance to apply. Besides, although some people may say this is just paper chase, it is much more than that. It is another great challenge for me as I will be more busier with the new semester reopening next week. 3. To get back my se

Why Santa Did Not Visit Singapore Last Year.

Although it's already end of Day Two of the brand new year, it's still not too late to sum up some of the big happenings in Singapore last year, with this hilarious entry from "The Talking Cock" dated last December. Wahahaha . This is absolutely funny. ;o) Enjoy! While I take a few more days to think about this year's resolutions. Hmmmm... Why Singapore is no go for ho, ho, ho last year ... 1. Haze too thick even for Rudolph. 2. Reindeer injured last year when landing on the Esplanade. 3. So this year, Changi Airport is making him land his sleigh at the Budget Terminal. 4. Mrs Claus fed up that last year, he allowed a suspiciously large number of SPGs to sit on his lap. 5. Gets annoyed by everyone addressing him as “Pooi Eh” all the time. 6. Got some letter from a little girl here telling him to “get out of my elite, uncaring face.” 7. Can’t compete with Vivo City. 8. Judging by the Swarovski crystal Christmas tree on Orchard Road, you Singaporeans can afford to

Mother Nature's Wonders.

What a beautiful sight! And hopefully a brilliant sign on what is to come for us in this New Year! We saw a rainbow across the late afternoon sky of Orchard Road. My dear remarked how rare it is to see rainbows in the sky. I thought to myself, Mother Nature has some other wonders in the sky which we may never get to see in person in our lifetime - Clouds. When you think clouds, what come to your mind? Cirrus, stratus, nimbus? Well, there are some other really strange clouds out there. These strange beauties are known as Lenticular clouds. More fantastic pictures of them here !

Merry New Year 2007!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1! I can't remember when was the last time I went to Sentosa for some sort of new year celebration. The most vivid one which I can remember was during my secondary school days when I went with a group of Teleview chatters. We stayed up all night at Sunset Bay. I wasn't even old enough to drink legally. Form party was the new in-thing. Blink blink blink. Forward many years ahead, it was NY eve again at Sentosa. My colleague HK had graciously invited us to his family BBQ cum chalet at Costa Sands Sentosa. A big thank you to him. Wonderful host and food. there were even crayfish and lotsa beer and red wine. They were definitely well prepared. We had a temporary shelter put over our three pits when there was a slight drizzle. The high of the night was probably when we used up the form spray against each other, acting many years younger, before the countdown. Feeling apologetic to two colleagues, HY and KC . Didn't know form will stain their clothes. Can wash off r
