Just In Time, For Bertrand's Big Day!

Twelve months ago, our baby boy came into this world. It was the beginning of our new journey. The delivery suite was cold. I held the camera tightly, waiting for the moment. The gynecologist came in and told me to put it away. "No time for this." My job was to urge my wife to push hard. "One and two and three..." And then, came his first cry. "Where's my camera? Where's my camera?" I scrambled for it. First was the cutting of umbilical cord, then the body check, the weighing scale, and Bertrand was in Mummy's arms for the first time. Before I knew, it had begun - my journey as a father and Bertrand's dedicated photographer. From the start, Bertrand is a natural when it comes to posing for the camera. He would look at the camera. The boy is cheerful. It was easy to capture him smiling. Not wanting to miss out any of it, I had the camera by my side, day and night. The first time he smiled, mumbled, laughed out loud, flipped over, crawle...

My Thirty-First.

On my thirty-first, I woke up in the heart of the city with my wife and son beside me. The feeling was fantastic ! Zero, zilch, nothing about work at all - just me and my family! We had plenty of fun taking this photo. :-D We had checked into Naumi the previous day for our mini getaway cum birthday celebrations. My wife had won the free stay at this wonderful boutique hotel in her company's lucky draw - interestingly she was on maternal leave during the draw. :-p I must thank her colleagues for the stay. It was refreshing . Thanks to my Mum for taking care of our boy, we had some time shopping in Orchard earlier that morning. Guess where is this place? A delectable lunch before checking into the hotel. Back in the hotel, we were delighted by the interior design. This is the metal feature at the bed head. A closer look... The wallpaper is really classy as well. With music from Lush FM on the background, the ambiance was perfect for our mini getaway. The TV rotates between the livin...

Parental Thought No. 1.

Being a parent is putting those nursery songs you had learnt when were young to good use. Besides the number one hits such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars", "Old McDonald", "Blah Blah Black Sheep", I find myself making up new songs with the old tunes most of the time. And the theme of those new songs? "Drink your milk!". Songs are perfect to calm the little one to drink his milk. :-) Moo-moo here, quack-quack there, meh-meh everywhere, meow-meow and woof-woof somewhere... cluck-cluck anywhere... and even ribbit-ribbit nowhere... So what other animals can you find in the farm? :-p

Bertrand's Garden.

Ever dream of having a garden in your own room? Blue skies, plane flying through the clouds... little ladybirds, dragonflies zipping between the flowers... chirping birds, balls of petals and grass floating through the air... That is the room I wanted to create for my little boy. And I did so last Saturday - with the help of some fantastically designed decals. At each step, I explained to him the next piece I was going to put up. He watched on intently. Then he smiled and melted my heart. I hope this garden will create a carefree and happy environment for him to grow. At least for now, the garden brings much joy to child and parents alike. Every time I step into his room, it is like walking into a room of a childcare centre, filled with fun and cheers! The coolest thing is Mummy had recently bought him a pair of ladybird and bee wristlets. Perfect compliments for the garden. I can imagine him coming to me one day, to tell me that he had spotted them in his garden! Some may ask if the r...

Parenthood 101.

It had been a while since I last blogged. It isn't that parenthood is boring. On the contrary, there are so many interesting developments everyday, and so many facets of parenthood that are new to me. I would love to write it all down, only to be afraid that I will be perceived as complaining most of the time. :p Luckily, Mummy diligently writes it all here (email me for the username and password). ;-) The truth is parenting is a tough but endearing experience. Our baby boy is so cute. It melts my heart to see him response to my "nags" (I talk to him a lot!), coaxing, and sleep comfortably on me. It is a joy even when he pees all over me because he would smile at me after I clean him up and rub his tummy. The nitty gritty details thrill me. For example, he grabbed my shirt tightly for his dear life, the first time I bathed him! The learning experiences enrich my life - the different aspects of looking after him, require me to be patient, meticulous and selfless (yes it...
