The LEGO Man.

The LEGO set was probably the best toy I had as a kid. Although throughout my childhood I only had a modest set Lego (one with a ~20x20cm green base and enough blocks to build a small house on it), it didn't stop me from doing more. In fact, I remember piecing up three spaceships for the characters in Journey to the West (after I was inspired by their somersaults on the clouds in the show ). :-p Looking back, I guess the LEGO set helped me to express my creativity (yes, it existed before all the hype on developing creativity in the past decade). Of course the Lego set has come a long way with different themes, such as Star Wars and even the Ferrari Victory set which I saw today! With these themes, you have better blocks to build more realistic models. However, nothing beats having the good old basic set to let you exploit your imagination. On a related note, yesterday I found out about the perk of working for LEGO - a customized LEGO man/woman for your business card! I wonder

Dear Friend's Birthday 2009.

It was a belated birthday dinner for XTT-KC aka my BBOF . :-) Had a superb-super-mini-celebration on the actual day (Monday). Superb cuz we finally got to take a look at the present (which sat for almost four months in my wardrobe) and we ate delicious Swiss Bake chocolate truffle cake (which we didn't mind sharing the few extra pounds that came with it). But this dinner was also a great excuse for everyone to gather and enjoy the company - we certainly did. The venue was Mykii at Holland Village. This concept restaurant has some meaning tied to its name. It was the third Valentine's Day recommendation from HungryGoWhere that I tried. This one is good for birthdays as well. :-) The restaurant has Greek-style deco. The white-washed walls and blue cushion reminded me of the white buildings of Santorini of the Greek Islands. And the food? Let's take a look at some of the food we ate... The Birthday-Gurl had this, Seafood Linguine with laksa pesto (tossed with prawns, c

Mixed Feelings.

The Monday morning which I had been looking forward to all weekend turned gloomy as the world crashed down on me first thing after I reached office. I am angry with how things work. I am sad with how much trouble I will bring to everyone, yet again. I was also reminded how naive I had been. As I tried to recall the reason for my initial excitement, the negative vibes swarmed me and I slowly succumbed to infinite sadness. I don't feel like smiling, I don't feel like explaining why. I hope everyone will forgive me for greeting them with my less than pleasant face. -deep breaths- Nevertheless, my dear friend's joyous occasion and my dear wife's cooking has rubbed abit of sadness off me. To my dear wife, thanks for your effort. It is heartening to know you share my emotions, and try to be there for me in your way. To my dear friend, I hope I hadn't ruined your day with my troubles and foul mood. It's a pity I can't bask in the fruits of my efforts I had put in f

First Encounter with Acupuncture.

Had my first acupuncture experience today. I thought I was in for consultation only. Before I knew it, I was lying on the bed and had acupuncture needles on me. Then came 15 mins of electrifying buzz. It was definitely unlike what I had in mind. Whether it will be effective? I will only find out next week when I put my ACL to the test again.

A Proud Moment for all Indians?

From the ending of Slumdog Millionaire . A great contrast from the otherwise very DannyBoyle -style movie (think Trainspotting ). But it was indeed a delightful surprise. :) Yay! I can hear the cheers from of the fans and some of them are getting outta their seats already... ;-) It reminded me of a previous Hollywood-attempt on the Bollywood-style dancing in the movie, The Guru ... More of the dancing on the Ellen DeGeneres show . Be warned, Patel and Freida looked stumbled by the dance steps - not so cool anymore. But the crew was hilarious tho'. LOL.

In Love With Being In Love with Someone.

In Today 's Friday column Maladjusted , the author expressed his disgust for Valentine's Day in his article, " Love In the First Degree ". He wrote, " The little blue box from Tiffany & Co. The bed of roses. The fancy dinner. The happily-ever-after. The kiss in the rain. None of this actually has anything to do with love - it has everything to do with being in love with the idea of being in love. " " I know we'll never be rid of the cash cow that is VD (admit it, Valentine's Day is as contagious and harder to get rid than crabs). " And he further added, " Valentine's Day is a wonderful way to sieve out the people you shouldn't date. If your boyfriend is dumb enough to spend $600 on a reheated set-dinner for two and a ridiculously tacky bouquet the size of a walrus instead of taking you on vacation, your future child has a 50 per cent chance of not being the brightest bulb in Ikea. " Well, I beg to differ. I think the a

25 Things About Me.

Previously published in Facebook Notes: Was tagged by Chai Keong . Here goes my answer... Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you (Total 26 people). If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you. ***************** 1. I have always feel that it is better to express your feeling for someone than to regret for life. My first rejection was at 12. 2. I wish I'm taller. She was and still is taller than me. Tho' I definitely don't hold any feelings for her anymore. 3. I enjoyed being alone but grow up to enjoy company of friends, only the closest and lovest ones. 4. I liked playing sports. I'm just a fat lazy bum now. 5. I was never good at sports, except shooting some hoops. They never want to pass the ball to me, maybe I was too short. 6. My idols on the hardwood courts were Michael Jordan

The Blue Basil.

Blue Basil is a restaurant in the row of old shop houses along Cairnhill Road . Tucked at one corner of Orchard area, amongst the condominiums, it is hidden from the crowd, a perfect place for a nice quiet evening dinner. We only get to know this place from the recommendation of HungryGoWhere . The Occasion? Valentine's is round the corner, but it is also Friendship Day . Celebration with my bestest-best-of-friend . For appetizer, we had Sauteed Mussels . Delicious! Main course, she had Cray fish with broccoli, pilaf and blue basil pesto... and I had Norwegian salmon with bouquet of vegetables, fries and hot garlic... Delicious again! They ran outta lemon sorbet and chocolate. But the vanilla and strawberry gelato made up for it. Overall, I enjoyed the food alot. The sauce was really good. I like the fact that it wasn't crowded and we were free to sit anywhere we like. I would recommend that you give it a try. Please bring along your empty stomach and great company like you

An Extra Special Gathering.

Today, I was privileged to be invited to my wife's colleague special Chinese New Year gathering, at his flat in Sembawang. Why special ? It was because her Swede colleagues were there as well. The Swedes are very nice and friendly people who bring along their great Swedish food to share with us on such occasions! The thing about Swedish food is that it is always closely tied to their traditions - usually it is about family bonding. =) And of course it is nice to see my wife's Swede colleague again. He had shown us around during my short stay in Sweden in TOML . Of course I am no expert in Swedish food at all, but I guess everyone has their little opinion about food as we all eat everyday. =) Here's the fusion of Western and Eastern food. Ang Ku Kuey, curry puffs, egg tarts, pizza, fruits, Swedish foodie, etc. One of the interesting Swedish foodie is the Crisp Bread - A traditional biscuit which will last thru' the long winter. And it goes really well with this Creamed

Missing Bling-Bling.

A friend urged me to share with you this little story... Just before the Chinese New Year's eve weekend, the diamond embedded on my wife's wedding band dropped out and was never to be found. So today, we went to the Wisma Atria's Lee Hwa Jewelery branch, where we initially purchased our wedding band, to get it fixed. To our delight, they offered to replace the diamond free-of-charge , without us explaining to them why they should do so. However, it will most likely take between two to three months to find another diamond which has the same 4 C's - small carat, but rare for the color, clarity and cut combined. Furthermore, they offered to clean all the bling bling we had on us, for free . That included a pendant which wasn't from Lee Hwa. Although I am a little disappointed with the workmanship, I am certainly satisfied with their service this time round. Hope they will not take too long to get back to us, and prove that it is worth going back to them again. Well...
