TNBT: Dubai.

Its noon local time at Dubai Airport Terminal 3 right. We are waiting for the connecting flight to Istanbul. We landed in the wee hours this morning and headed out to the city for some sightseeing.

These are my companions for this trip at the airport this morning: XTT-KC, Stitchy-Sop and 发发. Still sleepy and tired from the long flight. :p

The ticking taxi meter. The short journey to Jumerah Beach cost us almost S$90!
Killing our time before the sunrise... :p
The bus stops in Dubai keep them warm and shelter from the wind while they wait...
At Jumerah Beach, we caught the sunrise in the direction of the city. In the background is the tallest building in the world which is under construction, Burj Dubai.
The sunrise...
We strolled along the beach, trying to catch a glimpse of the Burj Al Arab from far. Unfortunately it was hidden behind the morning fog.
Supposedly, that is where "The World", Dubai's palm island is located!
Finally, after taking a ride on a private bus and hopping on the cab, we arrived at the nearest place where we can get to the world famous hotel - its gate.
While we could only view these world famous landmarks from far, it was at the Dubai Festive City where we can truly feel Dubai. The massive shopping mall, the luxury shops, the many different nationalities in there, these are probably the few things that best define Dubai today - the power and money that attracts people from everywhere to Dubai. Even just walking around the mall makes one feel good. The shops are more spacious than those of any mall in Singapore.
The Arabic version of "IKEA". Indeed, the IKEA building looks the same everywhere!
We had our lunch at London Fish n Chip in its "Food Court". Once again, we were impressed by the neat rows of tables and chairs, and the ambiance.
The black device started to blink when our food was ready for collection.
The Sprite tasted abit funny....
There are much more of the mall we have yet to explore. But that is about all the time we have here at Dubai. And all these is just the tip of the iceberg of what is to come... I can't wait till we get to Istanbul!

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...

Saturday Afternoon Routine.

I just got back from the Saturday tuition sessions. It has been almost 5 months since I started.I have two classes of primary school children, P4 and P3, taking Maths and Science, and English, respectively. It has become a Saturday routine. A energy-draining activity. It is somehow different from giving volunteering tuition. When you are paid, the responsibility seems greater. And if you ain't doing a good job, someone else is readily available to take up yours. The fact that I really need that money, I have to put in more effort. Some students have left, and some have joined. I'm not sure whether they left cuz they think I ain't good 'nuff for them. But there are some who seem really happy and appreciative to have me around. On my first lesson, I set the ground rules for my classes. I told them my expectations on their behavior. On boy, how naive I was. They are only nine or ten, they don't understand the significance of those rules. After a couple of lessons with ...
