Happy Birthday Yogi!

The familiar of cabaury chocolate struck my nose when I stepped out of the train cabin. I was back at Boon Lay and the chocolate factory was opened today. Not too long ago, I was doing this every Sunday night. The bus ride was like a stroll through memory lane (I know it sounds so cliche right?). I saw my old rooms, people wearing berms n slippers walking around campus (probably just got back from dinner), hardworking students waiting for their bus home only after the moon was high up in the sky. And when I reached my destination, the smell of hall, or was it the smell of hall life? Probably it was a mix of both. I was back in NTU tonight to celebrate the birthday of a very good good friend who I have not seen in months. In the presence of the familiar yellow cupboards, wooden desks, ceiling fans and lights, we sang the birthday song and cut the cake. It was an advanced celebration for the birthday girl, I think it was her first this year! The actual day is next Wednesday. Maybe she'll get the taste of Nanyang Lake? heh heh.

Ok larh, just kidding. Hope you enjoyed the two short hours as much as I did. Of cuz, great friendship need not be built on great length of time, but on a common belief and understanding for each other. Happy 21st Birthday Yeok Hui!

P.S. I think the Mount K. photos were very beautiful! I can imagine it was such a great experience for you. Hope that one day I'll have the chance to experience the greatness of nature as well.

P.P.S. Simplicity is good, if it suits you. =P

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...

Saturday Afternoon Routine.

I just got back from the Saturday tuition sessions. It has been almost 5 months since I started.I have two classes of primary school children, P4 and P3, taking Maths and Science, and English, respectively. It has become a Saturday routine. A energy-draining activity. It is somehow different from giving volunteering tuition. When you are paid, the responsibility seems greater. And if you ain't doing a good job, someone else is readily available to take up yours. The fact that I really need that money, I have to put in more effort. Some students have left, and some have joined. I'm not sure whether they left cuz they think I ain't good 'nuff for them. But there are some who seem really happy and appreciative to have me around. On my first lesson, I set the ground rules for my classes. I told them my expectations on their behavior. On boy, how naive I was. They are only nine or ten, they don't understand the significance of those rules. After a couple of lessons with ...
