Monster-In-Law.

We often highlight the ugly Singaporeans, but actually there are lotsa nice ppl around. Just now I took a cab home. Tho' we did not talk in the cab, the driver uncle was friendly enough to wish me good luck at the end of the trip. I think I do need that for days to come.

Okay, back to main storyline of this entry. I watched Monster-In-Law just now. Let me first comment bout the ticket price, $19 for two tickets!!! Woah. Thats outrageous, isn't it? Well its okay, since been a very long time I watched a movie. The last one was constantine (yeah, before I started blogging!!!). Next let me talk about the show. If you think its another typical Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy, yes it is! But I still like it, since I am a sucker for romantic comedies (not very manly, I know, but who cares). And Jane Fonda is really nasty in the show. This show isn't exactly the female version of "Meet the Parents". So there's no toilet humour if you are expecting them, just two angry b***hes getting back at each other.

According to my girlfriend, Michael Vartan, Jennifer Lopez's boyfriend in the show, is very good looking - so thats a very good reason for girls to watch the show. Don't get me wrong, I don't really care about that, I'm not gay. You may also learn from the show a tip or two to counter the nasty tactics by your potential in-law, or learn to decipher her hidden meanings behind those smirks and laughters. Not to forget, learn to propose to your girl in front of your mum, with a super-duper-big diamond ring.

Actually I don't mind living the life depicted in the show. Rich mum, big houses, great career, multi-talented girlfriend, and of cuz great sex too. So what if your girlfriend and mum don't get along before marriage? Cuz besides all that, like all hollywood love comedies, there's a happy ending - isn't that good enough?

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...

Saturday Afternoon Routine.

I just got back from the Saturday tuition sessions. It has been almost 5 months since I started.I have two classes of primary school children, P4 and P3, taking Maths and Science, and English, respectively. It has become a Saturday routine. A energy-draining activity. It is somehow different from giving volunteering tuition. When you are paid, the responsibility seems greater. And if you ain't doing a good job, someone else is readily available to take up yours. The fact that I really need that money, I have to put in more effort. Some students have left, and some have joined. I'm not sure whether they left cuz they think I ain't good 'nuff for them. But there are some who seem really happy and appreciative to have me around. On my first lesson, I set the ground rules for my classes. I told them my expectations on their behavior. On boy, how naive I was. They are only nine or ten, they don't understand the significance of those rules. After a couple of lessons with ...
