SoCal Thru' My Eyes.

The conference had been fast and furious so far. We tried to absorb the sessions and come out with new ideas from what we saw. Having new ideas also meant having new problems as we thought about adapting these ideas for our solutions. In between sessions, we managed to catch up with the developers to clarify our doubts.

Tomorrow will be the last day of the conference. Let me share with you some images from the past few days in LA and Palm Springs...

One of the first thing that caught my attention on the streets of LA, a giant donut.

Beautiful flowers basking in the California sun...

Of course, beside flowers, there are lotsa Palm Trees around here... According to my mission leader, the richer the families are, the more palm trees are planted outside their houses.

We visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame during the first night in LA after dinner...

King Kong with a lady in his hand...

Prints of Harrison Ford...

Spidy posing with some passersby...

Spidy off work... time for a beer?

King of the Hill... woh.. it'll be even more cool if its Family Guy!

The famous Hollywood Sign...

And the equally famous Hollywood Bowl... minus the audience and performance...

Well, the latest tickets for sale will be for June! Anyone interested to attend a concert at the Bowl with me?

Three of us shared a USD19.99 KFC meal for lunch. It was definitely more tasty than KFC in Singapore. There were 14 pieces + 1 free piece of drumstick/thighs, potato wedges, muffins and corns. But I wonder why they bundled a cake in the meal...

We also managed to sneak some time to visit the Getty Center - the billion-dollar museum. Well trip to a city is complete for me without visiting the museum.

Besides, one of the famous works on display is van Gogh's Irises. Rumored to be worth USD77 million! But I am not sure if I was seeing the real thing...

This bust of a Vest Virgin looks really familiar...

Magnificent view of LA Downtown, Century City, and the Pacific Ocean from the Getty Center! Click the images to see the larger view of the panorama.

On the way to Palm Springs... lotsa wind turbines...

The Summit!

Keynote speech was presented by David Chappell. He discussed about REST vs SOAP.

This is what what we typically had for lunch during the conference. Tho' it wasn't exactly tasty, I must add that it was really filling.

There was a "party" this evening. The atmosphere was like really geeky but fun! There were food, Wii, table tennis, Hearts, Rock Band and some other games. It was really cool that the folks were crooning away in Nirvana songs on the Rock Band. YEAH!

And finally, there was this "Where Do You Code" map where we would write our names. Of cuz we made our mark on it. ;-)

We managed to zoomed in to the little island we call "Home". :-)

Tomorrow we will be leaving the deserts after the conference. Drop me an email if you have special request for some chocolates or snacks that can be found here only. We are probably going to visit Target or Walmart again. So see everyone back home really soon! Please miss me, cuz I miss you. ;-p

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

Shopping for Perfume.

If you want to buy original but cheaper perfume in Singapore, you'd probably go to Lucky Plaza . You can bargain at the perfume shops in Lucky Plaza which is the exact reason why anyone would wanna shop at Lucky Plaza. I went there with a friend to shop for some perfume this afternoon. It was a shopping experience I never had before in Singapore. As a matter of fact, never before in my life or anywhere in the world. I usually visit the two shops near McDonald's . Today we decided check out another shop since we had walked from the "Lucky Plaza - Ngee Ann City underpass". We had in mind one of the brand we wanted. So after asking the price, we looked for the 2nd bottle of brand, but at a lower budget. We tested three, can't decide and asked for recommendation from the boss, an Indian lady (not being racist, its just the fact it happened to be an Indian shop). She showed me a black face (no pun intended! heh ) and said my budget was too low. She probably wasn'...

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...
