I wanted to just sneak a snaps of the famous works. To my surprise, I saw many snapping away at almost every sculpture and relief they saw. Some posed in front of the sculptures with their million-dollar smiles. There were even a couple of them with their SLRs hanging openly on their necks! Even when so many people were doing it, I don't think photography was allowed. =p Of the museums I been to, only the Munch Museum (where I assumed it wasn't allowed and left my camera in the locker!!) and the Chinese museums, allowed photography.
But anyway... I did it discreetly (at times not really!) with my new camera phone! Of course, if I wanted nice, well-taken pictures I would have bought the book and not goof around with my phone. These pictures are really to share with those who have not been to the exhibition yet, what you are missing. Nothing beats standing in front of these magnificent Greek Masterpieces, taking a glimpse at some of the objects which have left Louvre for the first time since finding their home there.
My pictures are focused on my favourite works on display...
The highlight of this exhibition is the sculpture of Aphrodite, aka Venus, the Greek Goddess of Love.
The Goddess with her assets revealed once stirred great controversies in the ancient Greek world.
A classical Greek equivalent of modern day action figure! Complete with movable joints, this is one of the toys Greek children played.
And finally, this is my personal favourite piece, the bust of a veiled woman.
I was a little less than discreet when taking her pictures. In fact, I must admit I was over enthusiastic that I swayed the phone in front of a woman's face while trying to get the right angle. It was rather dark and she didn't move at all or express that she was blocked. Nevertheless, it was my fault.
But what happened next really baffled and infuriated me! That woman turn her back on me and started telling her male companion about a "mad guy trying to take pictures in front of her face" and kept pointing her fingers at me. I wanted to go up to her and apologise, but I also didn't want to embarrass that rude woman. With her back facing mean, doesn't mean I could'nt see her pointing at me!! Maybe if she had a blog she would be writing about me tonight as well.. hah...
That's all for a peek at the Greek Masterpieces from the Louvre! You gotta catch it before 16 Mar. Otherwise, you'll need to fly to Paris to do so!
On a side note, we had lunch at this fusion restaurant at the basement of Cathay, "the Indulge". The food there is really fusion indeed.

Chucky chicken with fusilloni in sweet soya sauce. Tasted abit like Char Kuey or in this case Char Pasta. ha ha. Not too bad, not fantastic, price was reasonable. Worthed another try!
