Va Va Vroommmm.

As the 2008 Formula 1 season kicked off today with the qualifying round and race in Australia tomorrow, it is an exciting year for fans in Singapore!

Personally, I followed the races on Sundays when they still telecast F1 races on free-to-air channel. But the passion for it slowly died when these sports are shown only on paid cable channels. Hopefully all these will change this year when the race comes to Singapore. The 15th leg of the 2008 F1 Season, it is cool to find details of the Singapore GP on the official Formula One web site! It is interesting to read about what the organisers think about Singapore in the "Destination Guide". Just to highlight a few...

"Singapore is a clean city; in fact it’s so spotless that you can’t buy chewing gum, just in case the temptation to litter the streets is too great." I wouldn't say its spotless
lah... no chewing gum is true!

"If you’re a fan of Far Eastern metropolitan life, you’ll love Singapore. There are two renowned shopping/entertainment malls, the Marina Square and Sentosa Island." I always thought Orchard Road is the renowned shopping street. And Sentosa? It's boring
leh, at least at the present moment.

"Cast your minds back to 1973, to the last motor race staged in Singapore. Back then, the Singapore Grand Prix was run on public roads for Formula Libre cars, but was axed after deaths in successive years." Bit of history which I wasn't aware of...

I am still contemplating about catching the Singapore GP live or watching it at home in comfort (hopefully they'll air it FREE!!!). The thing about watching at home is that you'll get to catch all those exciting overtaking, hear the commentaries, see the pit-stops, monitor the whole race, and take occasional pee-breaks. But the watching it live... I imagine it'll be exhilarating! Maybe it'll be similar to watching the air show live - Breathtaking! At nearly 400km/hr, I think my hair will stand when they zoom past! Ah, but all of it is still part of my imagination. Maybe I'll sneak thru' to the track and watch the replay on TV. ;op

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...

Saturday Afternoon Routine.

I just got back from the Saturday tuition sessions. It has been almost 5 months since I started.I have two classes of primary school children, P4 and P3, taking Maths and Science, and English, respectively. It has become a Saturday routine. A energy-draining activity. It is somehow different from giving volunteering tuition. When you are paid, the responsibility seems greater. And if you ain't doing a good job, someone else is readily available to take up yours. The fact that I really need that money, I have to put in more effort. Some students have left, and some have joined. I'm not sure whether they left cuz they think I ain't good 'nuff for them. But there are some who seem really happy and appreciative to have me around. On my first lesson, I set the ground rules for my classes. I told them my expectations on their behavior. On boy, how naive I was. They are only nine or ten, they don't understand the significance of those rules. After a couple of lessons with ...
