My 27th birthday will probably be one of the most memorable for there is a Part 3 to it! My dear friend Yogi gave me a treat at Sun With Moon Japanese Dining and Cafe @ Wheelock's Place level 3. Of cuz this post is about the food.... Ain't very good at describing the taste, shall we just let the pictures do most of the talking? mmmm...
Both of us ordered "Japanese claypot rice" heh... We were supposed to wait for a minute before lifting the cover. I am not too sure why don't they serve out food that we can eat immediately... Why that one more minute? Perhaps it was supposed to add some unique element to the dining experience?
Once all the sand flows through the hourglass, time to dig into the food!
Yogi had Hotate Mentaiko Kamameshi, this is simmered scallop and fish roe. It wasn't fantastic tho', but still, not bad lah. One of the chef's recommendation. If you like to eat the whole scallop, you'll like this lorh. It was served abit cold, not to spoil the scallop?
I had Tori Kamameshi. Assorted chicken meat with Teriyaki sauce. There were all sorta beans and peas in the the rice. The chicken tasted sweet and tender, rather different from the chicken bowls you eat at food court. Heh heh. Of cuz la, this is much more expensive!
For desserts, we had Monaka and Tofu Cheese Cake.
Monaka is Japanese wafer filled with sweet potato, red bean and ice cream. Looks abit like shark fin at the back hor? That was crackers. There were lil' chocolate chips on the sweet potato paste. The taste of soft ice cream with the pasty potato and red bean was very nice.
Finally, the Tofu Cheese Cake is something which I would recommend everyone to try! If you like cheese cake, this would probably be one of the best you'll ever eat. Personally I think the thing about good cheese cake is that they must be smooth and melts in your mouth. And this Tofu Cheese Cake had the texture of beancurd and yet still tasted exactly like cheese cake! Yum Yum! Btw, it was served with a bird cage, not sure what's the meaning behind it...
Food aside, can you imagine a place with the Sun and Moon comes together??? What's the meaning of the name...? It had some special effects to our heads. As you can see this one, my head was obviously larger...
Then my head started to shrink...
This one, Yogi's head started to grow bigger...
Weird! ;o)
