Comparing for the Better.

My girlfriend commented yesterday that work seems very happening for me, everyday on the move, and always work late, while she usually goes home on time, and this made her feel very slack. I wanted to tell her there was no need to feel that way. Luckily she added that grass is always greener on the other side.

I think she's not the only one. I sometimes also tend to compare my workload with my colleagues, tho' I never mention it openly. Although I do work OT once or twice per week or go to sites, when I do work late, those guys are usually there too. And on those days when I leave on time, they work late too. The comparison does not end there. What about when I go breakfast and coffee, but they seem to have no time for it? Well, I realised recently that it was simply because they had theirs at home. And then there is the comparison on type of work we do. They seem to be involved in the designing work with the latest technology, while I pretty much followed my boss' orders from day to day basis, depending on time allocated for my task. And much of my work is on enhancing the same application I have been doing since six months ago. Well, there's an explanation for that too, we are simply at different phase of our projects. Theirs is the beginning, while mine is towards the end. And it is only right that we enhance and fully test our product to ensure the utmost customer satisfaction. Different people also have different attitude towards work, while some seem to be stressed, others are laid back. At the end of the day both can get their work done and that is what matters. Personally I prefer to work happily through it and enjoy my job than getting stressed all day. Simply put, even within the same department, there can be so many differences. There is really no need to compare, not to mention comparing with those from other companies or jobs with completely different nature.

But if you really want to compare, please compare the greater good things. Compare things like how they do some tasks more efficiently than you, or their motivation in coming to work everyday. I find that it is good to know what the rest are doing, possibly learn from them. In short, improving via comparison. Something like when your ma tells you that your next door auntie's son scored 90 marks for his Maths test and you only managed 60 marks, gotta buck up and take it easy on the XBox or PS2.

The bottomline, enjoy your work, put in your best, bring home the bacon at the end of the day. $$$

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...

Resolutions 2012.

While my one-year-old is going for his first steps, I am also learning to walk (again). 2011 was full of ups and downs.  I was promoted for the 2nd time in my first job. Not fantastic but not bad either after six years. The challenging issues justifies for the few more dollars increment to the stipend. Murphy is my good friend. With only the final milestone left, I hope to overcome all odds and pull the rabbit outta the hat in 2012! If I am lucky, I may run another project.  For the consecutive year, I expended all my medical leave. After hearing my story, some may say 父爱是伟大的. Some may think I was pure clumsy. As my son likes to watch basketball playing, I decided to show him how to do it myself. At first I felt good, I got it plenty of shots. Unfortunately, I broke my ACL while chasing after the ball. It has been two months and my knee is still weak and hurts occasionally. I plan to go for surgery in 2012, while performing the balancing act of pulling the rabbit and recup...
