They are showing "The Sphere" on Ch 5 now. I think it is either the 3rd or 4th time they are have it on Ch 5. And it will be 5th or 6th time if you count the times they showed it on the now dysfunctional Ch I as well. The Sphere is a gigantic spherical alien object found in a spacecraft at the bottom of the sea. What it can do is equally facinating and frightening (can't tell you more on what it does without giving away the plot). I have no intention of doing a review of the movie here, but I will recommend it to everyone who enjoys sci-fi movies. However, don't worry if you missed this movie again, they will probably show it again a few months later! That is how goooood this movie is! heh heh. Don't be deceived by the 2 outta 5 stars ratings it got from most movie critics!
Putting the jellyfish, giant squids, submarines and big golden sphere aside, let us come back the land, nice and dry. We were at Chinatown today for 十字路口 to celebrate Justus' birthday. I'll give a full account of the food journey in the next post once I get the photos. At the moment, let you tell you a few odd experiences I had today. We were at 马兰拉面 to kick off the first food item, 锅贴. The waiter stared at us rudely when we ordered two plates of it. It was the "Is that all you gonna order? " kinda look. Was he expecting us to order a few more bowls of noodles as well? Five people must order more than 10 dollars worth of food ar? After reiterating our order, he finally went off. Needless to say, that would be the last time I eat there. $6.50 for 6 pieces of not-so-delicious 锅贴, was not exactly cheap lorh. Next, at Chinatown hawker centre, I ordered a cup of chinese tea. The auntie gave me milk tea instead. I admit it was my fault for not stating my order correctly lah. Silly me, ordered "茶" and gestured the pulling of the tea bag, instead of asking for "中国茶" or "钓鱼". She told me off when I said that I did not order for milk tea. And she continued to grumble even as I went off with the chinese tea. I felt really dumb. ha ha. I don't blame her. Old folks can be grumpy and not so kind with their words. Finally, at the famous beancurd stall at Selegie Road, I ordered five bowls of beancurd with soya milk. The auntie asked me if I wanted hot or cold soya milk. So I turned around and asked my friends. Apparently that annoyed her. She said that I don't even know what I want when I order. I wonder why she was unhappy. There was nobody behind me waiting to order leh. But I will still go back for their beancurd again since it is so nice. I thanked the auntie for her "wonderful" service. Hopefully she would realise the irony go easy on the next customer.
Sigh, I suspect the orange-striped tee I wore today was too much for them to handle. Perhaps it agitated them abit lah. =P But also must really thank them, otherwise no story to tell you leh! hehehe.
