I thought they said Pistol Pete will be presenting the trophy if RF won? Ha. No leh! But as how the history book was meant to be written, one living legend witnessed another setting some new records. I guess to RF, it wasn't about setting new records. It was about regaining his World No.1 title and Wimbledon trophy. In some way, it was less emotional than winning Roland Garros - he didn't shed a tear!
Nevertheless, records defined the greatness of RF, he is the first man to...
... win 15 Grand Slams.
... appear in 20 Grand Slam Finals.
... contest in seven Wimbledon Finals in a row.
Truly consistent. Congratulations RF! When are you coming down to our little island to play? ;-)
As RF basked in the glory of regaining his crown, Andy sat there and held on to his emotions. Three cheers for Roddick! Don't feel sorry for the American No. 1, he is a true champion as well. He had put up a superb fight and made RF worked really hard. RF dropped two sets to Andy, compared to dropping only one set en route to the final. Only a total of ten points separated both men in this final. But RF is RF, and the magic stayed with RF once again this year. Perhaps, next year it will be Andy's turn if the duo meet for the fourth time in the Wimbledon final.
