Italian Gourmet Birthday!

The mahjong-kakis ate in style at Al Dente Trattoria, an Italian restaurant at Colours of the Bay Esplanade, this evening to celebrate Theresa's birthday!

Thanks to the AMEX promotion, we "could have been able" (???) to enjoy the main courses at 1-for-1. Why? lol.

We were enjoying this wonderful appetizer, Antipasti Sampler Platter... Salami slices, grilled mushrooms, tomatoes with mozzarella cheese, ham with melon & cold seafood cuts on fresh garden greens...

...when 阿发 said that he had left his AMEX card at home! We all knew he is good at cracking such cold jokes. Unfortunately, it was true!

Anyway, we went on to enjoy our main courses which we couldn't really make out what they were from the menu till we saw them in front of us! Our birthday girl had the Filleto di mauve? Anyway, its beef tenderloin ragout of mushroom and pancetta with red wine glazed... mmmm yum yum. Juicy and tender!

Dear had Pesce al forno... which is oven roasted red snapper and baked potatoes in lemon butter sauce.

阿发 had Arragosta. Its risotto of tomato and slipper lobster with basil and grana pandano.

And finally, I had the Arragosta e zabagllion di prosecco. Its baked slipper lobster and king prawns, sauteed bean and leek, in prosecco zabaglione. It was fantastic! Yum yum yum!

The dinner was definitely worth the price. Even if it wasn't, we also had to convince ourselves after knowing the "1-for-1 that could had been...". :p In the end, we were more than happy to settle with 15% off discount with credit card of another bank. I ain't a gourmet expert, neither do I know how to describe food with flowery words. All I can say again is this meal is YUM YUM YUM! I would suggest those who feel they have a deep pocket for the day or want to enjoy a sumptuous authentic Italian meal to give it a try. But before that, you may wanna brush up your Italian abit so as to read the menu better! lol.

Once again, Happy Birthday Theresa!

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...

Saturday Afternoon Routine.

I just got back from the Saturday tuition sessions. It has been almost 5 months since I started.I have two classes of primary school children, P4 and P3, taking Maths and Science, and English, respectively. It has become a Saturday routine. A energy-draining activity. It is somehow different from giving volunteering tuition. When you are paid, the responsibility seems greater. And if you ain't doing a good job, someone else is readily available to take up yours. The fact that I really need that money, I have to put in more effort. Some students have left, and some have joined. I'm not sure whether they left cuz they think I ain't good 'nuff for them. But there are some who seem really happy and appreciative to have me around. On my first lesson, I set the ground rules for my classes. I told them my expectations on their behavior. On boy, how naive I was. They are only nine or ten, they don't understand the significance of those rules. After a couple of lessons with ...
