THE Season to Taiwan.

This must be THE season to Taiwan. Other than five friends from my department (read about their trip here, here and here), there were also a few others who went too (read about one of them here). I was supposed to join them for the trip. Unfortunately, I had to postpone the trip as my girlfriend who really wanted to go couldn't make it, as her best friend whom she really wanted to go with couldn't make it (that's a mouthful of reason!). Besides, last week was the important "presentations week" in school.

But no worries, look what they got me for souvenirs! TADA!

The nice red lantern ornament, for mobile phones, from Jax!

In the center, that's the test tube from my shy neighbour. Inside, is a whiff of air from Taiwan and an environmentally friendly GREEN bookmark from 淡水. Why I think it's green? Cuz on the front it says, "航向下一个绿色岛屿" (Sail to the next green island).

For a moment I thought of a wonderful vision of going GREEN and mistaken that it was from YeeYee, the GO-GREEN-Evangelist!

And finally, the real souvenir from YeeYee is a bottle of 虎标万金油... or rather a look-alike. So duh to give me a bottle of medicated oil!

But on closer examination, it is actually 唬标万金有, the spoof! In fact, it is a bottle of sweets!

Once again, thank you for the souvenirs! The only regret, no 太阳饼 for me!!! Go Taiwan without bringing that back is like not going Taiwan at all... hah. I was told they had bought back some, but was finished on the first day, while I was away from office. =( Anyway after reading about their trips, it inspired me to complete my entries on TOML and my holiday to China. I shall do it after the exams! So stay tuned!

I brought a lot of 太阳饼 back! I still have some if you want :D Funny, everyone loves it but it's not really to my taste. I'm SO addicted to the mochis and pineapple cakes though...

The Bridal Dowry.

The delivery of dowry ( 送嫁妆 ) is another important custom. It represents parent's effort for her daughter to have a good life after marriage and prepare her with the necessities for being a good wife. I am amazed by some of the things included in the dowry. Of course, in our modern living, we will not be using some of those things... Nevertheless, I think it is all good to have them, as each item carries a good meaning for our blissful marriage. :-)

If you have it, just flaunt it.

Its such a lousy day, I have decided to blog another entry. Yesh, I am thinking about things other than my last two papers on Thurs and Friday. Something probably talked alot before by many people... What is it with men and women with 可爱-oooii *杨丞琳's voice* face, long tresses, slim legs, curvey body, in revealing tight clothes (only for those with the former characteristics), in pink. Why are men so attracted to those features? The guy is lying if he says he will not turn his head when he sees women with those features. I think it has nothing to do with men being lustful or anything disgusting. It probably has something to do with the genes, the hormones. I don't believe it has to do with things like its men's nature instinct to look for partners who can reproduce blahblahblah. That's so boring! Its something mysterious, something that let men derives pleasure by just looking openly, without doing anything bad or harmful or immoral. Do women ogle at men all the time too...

Resolutions 2012.

While my one-year-old is going for his first steps, I am also learning to walk (again). 2011 was full of ups and downs.  I was promoted for the 2nd time in my first job. Not fantastic but not bad either after six years. The challenging issues justifies for the few more dollars increment to the stipend. Murphy is my good friend. With only the final milestone left, I hope to overcome all odds and pull the rabbit outta the hat in 2012! If I am lucky, I may run another project.  For the consecutive year, I expended all my medical leave. After hearing my story, some may say 父爱是伟大的. Some may think I was pure clumsy. As my son likes to watch basketball playing, I decided to show him how to do it myself. At first I felt good, I got it plenty of shots. Unfortunately, I broke my ACL while chasing after the ball. It has been two months and my knee is still weak and hurts occasionally. I plan to go for surgery in 2012, while performing the balancing act of pulling the rabbit and recup...
